Dead King's Crown

The world’s “king of the land”, King Ezekiel, has been assumed dead. The body and its killer are unable to be found.
The peaceful towns that have thrived under Ezekiel's rule are now unable to stop unrelenting forces that have taken to stealing every piece of land they can destroy.
A belligerent fighter, a haunted girl, and a mourning brother have attempted to take the King's stead, allying with other unlikely heroes. Driven by anger and adventure, success is a given, and the crown lies in wait. The question is: what waits alongside it?
In this proof of concept, play as Mai, the unrelenting combatant seeking to save her village of warriors from the prisons of a malicious group known as The Eye. Dash past and bash through your opponents as you clear hordes of (probably incompetent) soldiers!

This is a game made over the course of 1.3 years - 1 month during its inception, 3 months of hard work up to now, and 12 months(!) of desperately wanting to work on it during life-changing events and injuries. After this long, I think it's best to finally release some version - the ideal one or otherwise.
Maybe this game will be finished one day in my twenty-year-plan, but for now, I hope you enjoy all of the little pieces that fell into place to bring you this little prototype of a prototype! And thanks for reading this, if you did.

CONTROLS FOR KEYBOARD-MOUSE (not always recommended but still works perfectly fine):
WASD - Move
Spacebar - Jump
Left Click - Light Attack
Right Click - Dash (fully invincible and omnidirectional, costs 50% of blue meter)
Mouse Wheel - Special/Heavy Attack (does 2 damage and instantly knocks enemies away, costs 50% of blue meter)
FOR CONTROLLERS (Nintendo Switch controllers may be unstable/have different button layouts, sorry!):
Left Stick - Move
Bottom Face Button - Jump
Left Face Button - Light Attack
Right Face Button - Dash (fully invincible and omnidirectional, costs 50% of blue meter)
Top Face Button - Special/Heavy Attack (does 2 damage and instantly knocks enemies away, costs 50% of blue meter)
SPECIAL INPUTS/COMBOS/TIPS:
Hold Dash: Run (stays as long as other attack inputs are not made)
Forward -> Special: Grab (grabbed enemies take 2 damage and knock up enemies in their path. Invincible after initial dash makes contact. 50% of blue meter)
Light Attack -> Light Attack -> Light Attack (while hitting enemy): Flurry Kick (hits 3 times, cancelable at any time during animation)
Hitting Jump during a Flurry Kick will give you an invincible kick upward, and hitting Special or Dash will cancel it into those moves instead.
Light Attack -> Jump (or vice versa) also gives you this invincible kick, but the input may be dodgy right now.
-Most things can be broken out of fairly fast with a Dash. Due to its invincibility and mobility, it's recommended to always have one to continue weaving enemies, run to the next objective, or even rack up damage by canceling certain attacks.
-The large enemies (Brutes) have armor that needs to be broken before they can be tossed around like other enemies.

Install instructions
For Mac, you may need to manually override your permissions as it's not a certified/approved game by Apple etc. After that it should be good.
The others should work fine when you unzip them. Just click on the Application/exe inside the folder after it unzips and it should launch with no hassle.
